Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You

Released in 1998, this funky French house anthem is the lovechild of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe, and vocalist Benjamin Diamond.

The track’s backbone is a sampled guitar riff from Chaka Khan’s “Fate” (1981). With that irresistible loop, a fat bassline, and Diamond’s hypnotic vocals repeating “Love might bring us back together”, it created pure dancefloor ecstasy. The whole track was recorded in just a few days.

Despite its success, Stardust never made another track. They left the party at its peak, making this hit a perfect, untouchable time capsule of the late-‘90s French house scene.
